About Garolite CNC Machining

Garolite is a thermoset composite made from fiberglass and phenolic epoxy resin. As a thermoset, garolite cannot be melted and reformed. If it is heated above its peak operating temperature, it breaks down chemically and will not retain its properties once cooled. This makes injection molding in garolite impossible. CNC machining in garolite is the only method of manufacturing complex parts with this material.

Garolite is a glass-reinforced epoxy composite with a high strength-to-weight ratio and excellent corrosion and moisture resistance, making it ideal for marine applications. It is also fire-resistant and a great electrical insulator, making it a material of choice for electronic circuit board substrates.

what is G10/FR4 material?

Garolite G10/FR4 is a thermoset reinforced glass-epoxy laminate first introduced in the 1950s.G10 materials are made by applying heat and pressure to layers of paper, canvas, linen, or glass cloth impregnated with synthetic thermosetting resins. Are known for low moisture absorption, abrasive texture, and excellent electrical insulating properties. G10 and FR4 are stellar performers, even at high temperatures. The result is a product that is strong and stable and meets UL 94V-0 standards for flame retardance.Anpllocnc can source G10/FR4 in a variety of shapes and configurations to meet the needs of your project.

What are the benefits of CNC Machining Garolite G10?

Cnc machining for G10 could make very complex shape part with smooth surface and tight tolerances.Because G10 could not be melt, so it is impossible to make it by injection tooling, then CNC machining is the best method with cheap price and fast delivery time for Garolite G10.
G-10 does not conduct electricity. It is widely used in electronics and printed circuit boards. It is not affected by the environment and can maintain the original shape well, thus ensuring dimensional stability of the workpiece.

Custom Machined G10 Parts Made Easy

Of the laminates and composites machined within the walls of Anpllocnc, G10/FR4 is by far the most machined and fabricated grade. Sales staff built with high integrity, decades of knowledge, and on-staff engineering provide the environment for successful machining of the notoriously complex G10/FR4 CNC Machining.

Our machine shop utilizes CAD/CAM design from prototype to production, making certain we produce superior quality precision machined plastic parts. We maintain strict quality control systems certified to AS 9100D, which include certificates of compliance for all materials, to ensure only products of the highest standards are received.

Garolite G-10 Material Properties

Due to the nature of Garolite G10/FR4’s properties, it is often used as a laminate when a laminate that has a minimum of 0.005” thickness is needed. It has great electrical properties that stay consistent across all humidity and temperature levels, it also satisfies MIL-I-24768/28 GEB-F requirements. A lot of the mechanical properties of G10 differ depending on the orientation of the product. This is because it has directional layers in its laminate.

A list of Garolite G10 properties are as follows:
